Let's walk through creating your first project in Orka from start to finish.
Step 1: Create the project
- Click Projects in the sidebar
- Click Create Project
- Enter the project name
- Select a client (or create one)
- Set the project budget and timeline
Step 2: Define milestones
Break your project into milestones:
- Milestone 1 — Initial deliverable
- Milestone 2 — Review and revisions
- Milestone 3 — Final delivery
Each milestone should have:
- A clear description
- A due date
- An amount for payment
Business Tip: Define deliverables before starting work. This prevents scope creep and keeps projects on track.
Step 3: Set up escrow
Fund escrow for the project:
- Review the milestone breakdown
- Confirm the total amount
- Fund escrow from your connected wallet
Escrow protects both you and your client by holding funds until milestones are approved.
Step 4: Deliver and get paid
As you complete milestones:
- Mark the milestone as complete
- Submit deliverables for review
- The client approves the milestone
- Funds are released from escrow
- An invoice is generated automatically
Business Tip: Always get milestone approval in writing. The client portal makes this easy.
Step 5: Review and iterate
After completing the project:
- Review the project analytics
- Check your payment history
- Collect feedback from your client
- Use insights to improve your next project
